EU currencies get support from stock growth

EUR/USD

Yesterday’s growth of stock exchanges helped the single currency in thin trading. While the main capital markets (Britain and the USA) were closed, stock index futures were attacking the new highs. Thus, S&P 500 not only managed to set a new record at 1900, but also to close out the day above that level. In the meantime, the technical analysis shows that this indicator is overbought. Strictly speaking, it doesn’t promise an immediate reversal at these levels. So those who play against the market should be more careful. The current position of the index urges to look out for the moment more…

Bulls try to heat up EUR

EUR/USD

The single currency was being purchased on Friday as if along a ruler. The euro/dollar was growing strictly within the narrow upward channel. It speaks not only about presence of big buyers, accurately picking up the pair, but also about absence of any idea in the markets. The pair remains in the grip of uncertainty of the ECB’s policy. Despite the inflation slowdown, in Germany as well, most members of the Bank’s governing board treat a rate cut or any other easing of the monetary policy as a certainly pernicious thing with economic growth in the background. Anyway, market participants keep more…

AUD tumbles down on low inflation

EUR/USD

The euro survived the bearish pressure. The support rate of 1.3790 held out, thus preventing a chain reaction in the exchanges and triggering of stop orders. Today we expect the release of April’s Flash PMIs, which makes the day really  important for the euro. According to the consensus forecast, the rates will generally remain unchanged in the eurozone, but are likely to grow in Germany. The services sector, in the meantime, is expected to show acceleration in all the key points. In other words, investors look forward to further extension of the recovery, which usually spreads from manufacture to the services more…

EUR won’t surrender 1.38 to USD

EUR/USD

The favourable economic data together with a series of positive corporate reports again draw investors’ attention to the US assets. But if it looks like a true return to the traded ranges for stocks and increases the chances of hitting new highs in S&P 500, USD unfortunately can’t boast any significant dynamics. EURUSD doesn’t have a reason even to go below 1.3800, sticking halfway. To convince the dollar-bulls in the earnest nature of intentions the week should be closed below 1.3700, which will completely make up for the growth in the previous week. But it is very unlikely as today the more…

Investors seek refuge, disregarding EURUSD

EUR/USD

Escalation of the Ukrainian crisis has put severe pressure on the Asian exchanges today. Investors are looking for safe assets, trying to minimize risks of the expanding conflict in the Crimea. The question about safety of this or that asset is really acute now. Let’s dwell on this today. In Forex the yen and franc are in primary demand. Besides, Gold and Oil are purchased quite well. The US stock futures have come off their historic highs. This movement isn’t large-scale, but this reflex impulse looks very revealing. The market sentiment about the EU currencies has changed. The euro and pound more…
