Summary
Overall, reviews of Topstep highlight a mix of strong positives and notable criticisms. Many traders praise the firm’s transparency, fair rules, smooth platform experience, and supportive team. The educational resources, community, and consistent payouts earn repeated commendations, as do individual staff members for their professional and empathetic assistance. Several traders appreciate Topstep’s integrity, especially how the company handled an AWS outage by compensating affected users, showing accountability and trader focus. However, multiple reviews express significant frustration with slow or unresponsive customer support, sometimes taking days to reply despite claims of fast turnaround times. Others mention delays in payouts, particularly via Wise, and criticize rigid policies, such as KYC verification issues, account reversion, and trailing drawdown conditions. A few users suspect unfair market behavior or inconsistency in rules. In summary, Topstep is widely respected for its fairness, reliability, and trader-oriented approach, but it could improve by speeding up customer service and payment processing, and by offering more flexibility in verification and account policies.

TopStep is hands down one of the most frustrating prop firms I’ve ever dealt with. Their platform issues and slippage are unreal. You can have a perfectly clean setup, proper risk management, and still get filled way worse than expected, blowing your trade for reasons that have nothing to do with your strategy. When volatility hits, the platform struggles — orders lag, fills are delayed, and slippage destroys your edge. What makes it worse? No meaningful reset flexibility. If their platform issues cost you the account, that’s on you, not them. They take zero responsibility. You’re expected to pay again and again, even when the failure is clearly tied to execution and technical problems on their side. Risk rules are already strict, but when you combine them with unreliable execution, it becomes a trap rather than a fair evaluation. It feels less like a trading assessment and more like a system designed to make you repurchase accounts. Customer support is generic and scripted — no real solutions, no accountability, just copy-paste responses.

this company is a scam. Their platform freezes up and blows your account then they blame it on the customers internet connection. My connection is close to 1TB a second

They were supposed to send me money for purchases during crashes for accounts never used. They said 7-10 business days. Nothing came. No response from support to my follow-up questions (via Windy of course, no other way - the automatic replay is 'we will answer in 1 day'). I read similar stories here. bye bye money :(

People!! Read the reviews! You are completely out of your mind if you sign up with this company. A few random bad reviews are one thing but dozens and dozens of bad reviews ALL complaining about the same thing is clearly telling you there is a serious systemic issue with this company. STAY AWAY!

Whats with the bad reviews against Top step! Top step are outstanding! They have a great set of rules are super clear with no hidden rules. Have just gone through the payout process and it was an unbelievably smooth process. Everyone is quick to blame them when most likely its something on their end they have done wrong on why they didnt get paid out. Have a read through through their guidelines before you put them down with bad reviews! Top Step is number 1 in the futures space and as long as you follow their rules you will continue to get paid.

The way the outages were never responsibly addressed and the lack of accountability is why I left topstop. They care more about being youtubers. Andre is an awful host and he shouldn't be in front of a camera.

It was all good at first , until payout time came . I had over 5k buffer and when i went to do KYC i had my younger son help me since I'm not very good with technology and they ban me for having him in the room with me. They heard him tell me i needed to show my face to get my payout and ban me. The support team did nothing to help and ive heard this problem happen to many people with no help . Topstep should be investigated imminently . { i have vast ammount of screen shots to go with this aswell } Just wanted to come back and say topstep will harrass you if you post something negative thats true , so watch out .

I had multiple Topstep Express funded accounts in good standing with $9,500 in earned profits when my account was permanently restricted due to a KYC issue. I understand and support identity verification requirements. The issue is how this was enforced and the consequence imposed. What happened: I completed KYC and later completed it again when asked English is my second language, and during the first attempt I sought clarification to ensure I understood the instructions After learning that any assistance could be interpreted as non-compliant, I completed the second verification entirely by myself, in good faith I disclosed in advance that my phone camera was not functional and that I would be using a borrowed device to complete verification Topstep did not object to this or warn that using a borrowed device — or someone handing me the phone — would invalidate the process Despite this, Topstep later determined that the presence of another individual during the verification process invalidated KYC, even though: I personally completed the verification I did not refuse or evade KYC There was no allegation of trading misconduct, account sharing, or fraud As a result: All funded accounts were closed All earned profits — totaling $9,500 — were forfeited Payouts already requested and marked as “processing” were stopped Requests for clarification about payout status were ignored The decision was declared “final,” with no further discussion allowed I attempted to comply at every step, disclosed issues in advance, corrected my process once expectations were clarified, and still lost 100% of my earned profits over a procedural interpretation that was never clearly explained beforehand. Traders should be aware that with Topstep, earned profits can be forfeited entirely due to strict and retroactively applied KYC interpretations, even when there is good-faith compliance and no trading violations.

The copy trading system executed twice all the ordes that i made on my leader. The day ended up being a red day but this is ok as I plan well before the start of the session the risk per trade. On all follower account that risk was doubled as the orders was executed twice, this lead to a very difficul environment and make impossible to apporoach a sutainable way as a single software issue can bur months of disciplined risk plan. I still can’t understand how they need a screen recording even if the have access to my accounts plus all the csv orders that I attached to the message. They know that it’s basically impossble for customer to have a screen recording of the issue ( let’s be honest, who think that a issue is likely to happen and activate a screen recording right in the middle of the session as we are full focused?) and they play this game. My trust in this platform is way reduced

I’ve had the best experience with customer service every time. On top of that, I’ve never had an issue with my payout, they usually get processed really quick!

Topstep cares Top step customer service is top tier, they truly take the time to dig deep into any issues you may have and try their hardest to resolve it. I also like how they take accountability, and will always put the best interest of their traders 1st. A special thank you to Nick G for his excellent customer service.

I had a very negative experience with this trading company. They allowed me to purchase accounts without any issues, accepted my payments, and permitted me to trade normally. However, when I was finally ready to withdraw my money, my account was suddenly blocked. They accused me of actions that I did not commit and failed to provide clear evidence or a fair explanation. Communication became unprofessional and unhelpful, and my funds remain withheld. This behavior raises serious concerns about transparency, ethics, and customer protection. A legitimate company should not block clients only at the moment of withdrawal. I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious before doing business with this company.

Back on Dec 16th and 17th Topstep experienced widespread outages that would go on to affect many users, including myself. An automated fix was supposed to be rolled out for all negatively affected accounts, but mine was not taken care of. I contacted support and thanks to Kyle over on the support team, I was able to get everything fixed and now I can trade again in the New Year.

Horrible customer service. Platform is garbage, and if it fails say goodbye to your money they don't care about you. The only thing they care about is taking your money.

I have never seen a company crash and burn so quickly. As of 6 months ago, I would have given them 5 stars. Today, they are receiving a 1 star. Their customer service has been atrocious. People don't know what they are doing, if you even get a response. HUGE issues with the platform. My recent experience has caused losses. They are thieving their way back to green, and it's going to cost them the entire business. I'd recommend looking for other prop-firms to trade with until they get their act together. Stay away.

Topstep used to be amazing! But it has unfortunately gone downhill now. Customer service has been extremely poor, and the trading platform is highly unstable. Even when their platform is at fault, they do not provide corrective resolutions. On 17 December (the day of the platform outage), I was unable to close trades when intended, and I was also unable to move my stop loss. In addition, trades that I closed in profit were not reflected in my P&L. I raised a formal complaint the following day, 18 December 2025. As of 5 January 2026, this issue remains unresolved. I have been dealing with a support agent named Jennifer, who has been unable to provide any meaningful resolution. I am repeatedly told that my ticket is with a “Level 2” team and that nothing further can be done, despite the significant time that has passed. Now on 5th January, I am agaian being asked to wait another 5 days as they look into the matter again. To make matters worse, I have been instructed not to trade until the issue is resolved, yet my subscription has still been charged. The ongoing delay is effectively eating into my paid subscription period while I am prevented from trading through no fault of my own. Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience. If Topstep is unable to correct my account balance, reimburse the losses incurred due to the platform outage, and reset my subscription period, I will be forced to leave and seek an alternative trading platform.

am deeply disappointed with Topstep’s payout process. I requested a $610 withdrawal on December 16, 2025, for my account EXPRESS-V2-93137-81350771. The funds were supposedly sent on December 17th and then again on December 26th, but I have received nothing in my Wise account. I have proof that my Wise account is fully functional, as I successfully received a transfer from Interactive Brokers on December 30th. Despite multiple requests, support (Ramez) has failed to provide an official PDF receipt or Transaction ID for the transfer. It has been over 15 days of delays and excuses. I have followed all 'Legacy Payout Rules' and have a Net P&L of $1,221.40. I will update this review once I receive my funds and the requested proof of transfer. Until then, traders should be cautious. Update: Finally I get paid
