Interactive Brokers customer reviews

As for brker of their calibre they need to level up their tech support
Signed up for various accounts a few weeks ago with a view to consolidating my and my families accounts in one place and under one company. The main attraction though is/was their fees on overseas trades where other brokers cream off 1%-2% but IBKR are wafer thin. That all might still hold however the customer onboarding and transfers in has been incredibly frustrating. They take ages to get things done and the customer support is terrible. The website is antiquated too. I'm hoping that once everything is transferred in then my reason for moving will still be valid but they do make things hard for customers
IBKR provides low fees, fast and dependable execution, and is a trustworthy platform. Its advanced trading features and broad market access made it a strong choice for managing my investments efficiently.
Still trying to fund my account....talk about frustrating!!! Not sure I want to continue with such a poorly operating system.
I like the mobile app.

If you experience a malfunction in their slow system and lose money because of it, do not expect to receive a refund. Furthermore, they have an algorithm called price cap, it is mainly intended for small cap, this algorithm will destroy your account if you are holding a volatile stock. your stop loss will not work until the stock stabilizes (It sounds foolish, but that is the truth. the stop loss will only take effect once the stock calms down) Absolutely not recommended.
I didn’t know..,but turns out they are very respectable in trading

I have used about 4-5 brokers and this is easily the worst. From having to use your mobile device for every little thing to not executing market orders timely on massive liquid stocks. It’s absolutely the biggest money suck I’ve ever seen. My favorite is that they will announce corporate actions that are known the day of after hours and get you completely locked in to positions you didn’t ask for. Garbage company and trash customer service. Deserves to go out of business.
When you trade options and stocks closing the position with profits is extremely difficult as IBKR applies a big spread that make you loose money
prices are just too confusing, like why cant you make it more clear🤦♂️
I'm struggling since a month to verify my account as your website is not user friendly and is not straight forward. I am unable to update my address but won't indicate what exactly I need to do or did wrong.
I thought that your wallet should be fat enough to sign up with this top broker. At minimum, I shouldn't be able to hold this wallet in my hand :)) XD But they made stocks trading available for everyone. I now understand why so many people get crazy about Ibkr. Private acc with no min deposit, close to zero fees, nothing paid for maintenance. In terms of features, the power of ibkr is not arguable too. The best analytical help, perfect execution, really I start feeling myself as a real professional investor here, engaging features. Their community also top, not toxic
For example, I needed to spend a good chunk of time to find the information about: 1) Swap fees, whether they charge something for keeping overnight positions 2) Cost per one buying share 3) Taxation for dividends Annoying to search for this, when the markets don't sleep. Support is not very helpful...
The broker is for professional trading, and for beginners like me it would be very difficult. The platform itself has tons of different buttons, and the tutorials that they have are not clear at all on how to use them. I understand over time this problem might go away, but they could have done everything in a user friendly way so that it caters to all, not only advanced ones.

The website is terrible, and transferring money between accounts is unnecessarily complicated. Customer service is equally poor. I had high expectations for this broker, but they’ve turned out to be a major disappointment.
I have an "institution master" account - no idea what that means with A$5m it. I wanted to setup a second account to put an additional (not insignificant) amount in (it had to be segregated from account no1). Their notes on how to do setup look nothing like what I was seeing on screen so i raised a ticket on 11/11/25 for guidance/clarification. No response. IB really should put up a sign when you sign up saying this is a DIY platform and dont even think about contacting us.
Simple, easy to use UI
Great no problems at all

Terrible Customer service. No response to tickets. Now my money is missing, and no one to give an account for it. I followed all the instructions provided, and still nothing. Complete rip off!

Incredibly difficult website, imported from the USA. Asks for all sorts of info we do not use in the UK eg TIN. Very very very difficult to contact. No phone number displayed plus if you want to send a message, you have to go through loads of FAQs. Overall, I would steer clear - yes you might save a few quid versus other providers but it is really not worth it
Horrible interface. Information is hidden under numerous layers of unintuitive menus. The platform will let you struggle your way through ten steps, each hidden in a completely different section, only to notify you at step 11 that the service was unavailable to begin with. When the basic experience is so bad, I am not sticking around to see what happens when there are real issues to resolve
I've had very good experiences with IB: Global trading reach, competitive currency exchange rates, convenient transfer options and unmatched account data available.
I have a new phone and wanted to migrate the authenticator to it. Following the instructions on the screen, after asking for my login credentials twice, the app is unable to verify my login information (the ones I use via www without any issues). As a result I cannot migrate authentication to the new phone.
Professional, fast and kind
Great broker
Easy to contact and fast to resolve doubts.

Access to markets is very good - but incredible complex and difficult to use. Myriads of menus and columns with settings that that not even generic AI can explain what they mean. IBKR is delaying market data, and it is impossible to figure if this is possible to fix from just looking into the settings. There is no real time support, and resources on line are scarce. I have been trading for two years on other platforms, I would like to use TradingView, and it works for stocks if want to take long positions. Anything else than that takes a degree of some sort to understand. Forget about forex, crypto, futures, indexes, CFD or commodities. If you are talented and understand complex systems easily - than this i probably a powerful broker with lots of opportunities.
Customer service is terrible. It is incredibly difficult to reach a person, and when you do they are seemingly happy to be unhelpful. I compare them to E*Trade who I left, and who I love. They loved to serve their customers; it's a clear culture difference. Just today, IBKR was "closed for maintenance" when the futures market opened! First 30 minutes of the market, and they are down. Not possible to use any of their tools to trade. Who does that? Someone who doesn't care about their customers.
With IB, I’m able to explore investment opportunities in various markets with very affordable costs. When I plan to invest in real estate overseas, I use IB to convert money and when the plan is on hold, I can still use the money to invest in overseas stocks and bonds. This adds a lot of flexibility to investments.
The data is presented very well, site works well, have never had any issues.
