I wanted to open a simple demo account with XTB, but the whole process was unnecessarily complicated and far too intrusive. To create just a demo account, I had to go through repeated email verification, SMS codes, and full personal-details forms — I had to start the process from the beginning three times. Then, only minutes after entering my phone number, I received an unsolicited call from XTB, asking me to upload my driving licence or ID and provide proof of address. I explained clearly that I only wanted a demo account to test whether I even liked the platform, not a real account. The response I received was unbelievable: “YOU CANNOT OPEN A DEMO ACCOUNT IF YOU DON’T HAVE A REAL ONE.” This defeats the entire purpose of a demo account. For around 1.6 million clients, XTB has one person sitting somewhere and interrupting all users as soon as they type their personal phone number. Unacceptable and disappointing. Now my personal data is stored with XTB for no valid reason, and this raises concerns about privacy, unwanted calls, and why people end up receiving suspicious contact after providing details to companies. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. A demo account should not require full KYC verification, unsolicited calls, or pressure to upload documents. The whole process felt more like data collection than offering a genuine demo service. I regret even starting the registration, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend XTB.

XTB still refuses to refund my initial investment in my ISA account directly to my registered bank account after filling internal complaints with their compliance team. They also ignored the ISA transfer to another alternative ISA provider request despite the fact that their compliance confirmed their transfer team has received the information will deal with transferring request. After HMRC recommended 30 days transfer period, this transfer was cancelled due to no responce from XTB although 3 reminders was sent during the one month period. The latest update in Dec:1) cash still remains with XTB since they refused to refund and transfer .2) XTB Compliance will take further 8 weeks to draw their findings and conclusion. This cash refund request has been going on for over 3 months, still unsuccessful. Word of warning : DO NOT TRANSFER CASH INTO XTB I will keep this matter updated into year 2026.

Awesome platform!
I am very disappointed with XTB – although until now everything seemed fine, probably because I had not encountered any problems. With the Unilever split, instead of receiving 8/9 shares as I should have, XTB sold all 20 of my shares, claiming they were fractional. I did not want to sell them, but XTB did it automatically, and I ended up with a significant loss. This is very serious. I have therefore lost my trust and will withdraw from this platform. Update: answer to XTB: already did that, nothing happened. Useless!
