Topstep Acquires The Futures Desk to Expand Trader Development Tools

Topstep has announced the acquisition of The Futures Desk, marking a new deal in the futures prop trading sector. The transaction was announced on April 1, 2026, as Topstep said it is moving to strengthen its trader development ecosystem and expand the capabilities of its platform.

According to the company, The Futures Desk will bring its technology and trader-focused experience into the Topstep business. Topstep said the acquisition is aimed at enhancing the overall experience for traders by combining the strengths of both firms under one platform strategy.

A key part of the deal is the planned integration of The Futures Desk’s technology into TopstepX, Topstep’s trading platform. The company said the added tools are expected to give traders more resources to track performance, improve decision-making, and build stronger trading habits.

Topstep also confirmed that The Futures Desk co-founders Josh Schwartzberg and Brian Ford will join the company as part of the transaction. Their addition is expected to support Topstep’s broader push to develop traders from simulated environments toward live funded trading.

In its announcement, Topstep framed the acquisition as part of a larger effort to improve education, coaching, and trading infrastructure for its user base. The company said the move is intended not only to expand the business, but also to accelerate its long-term roadmap for what it described as the “Ultimate Trading Experience.”

The acquisition stands out as one of the latest signs of consolidation and platform building in the prop trading industry, where firms are increasingly focusing on technology, trader analytics, and integrated development tools as competitive advantages.

Bottom line: Topstep’s acquisition of The Futures Desk is more than a standard M&A deal. It shows how prop firms are investing in platform technology and trader development systems as competition in the futures funded trading market continues to evolve.
